He certainly paid a high price for a majestic monster of a castle which now forms part of a world heritage site.


Did you know?

- Although it's in the care of Cadw, Carnarfon Castle is still owned by Her Majesty the Queen.

- The construction of the castle began in 1283 and went on for nearly half a century. Despite this, the fortress was never completed as planned!

- Since 1986, Caernarfon's castle and town walls have formed part of a UNESCO world heritage site:'Castles and Town Walls of King Edward in Gwynedd'.
