Medication reviews are need to keep control of your medications, talk about/ resolve any side effects, ask questions about your medication etc. Medication reviews are very important. If you think you need a Medication review ask your pharmacist you will be getting good advice. All medical professionals including pharmacists are bound by the rules of confidentiality.
Pharmacies may have a free medication review, it never hurts to ask for one.
A review will help you learn more about the medications you are on, how they work and how to take them in the most effective way.
Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who have a degree in pharmacy and expertise in medications. They have extensive knowledge of both prescribed and over the counter medications. The Government has recognised the value of advice from a pharmacists and is providing funding for medications use reviews.
In the Uk is service is free of charge and will be held in a private area of the pharmacy where you can't be overheared by customers or staff. Anything you say will be kept in the strictest confidence.
At the end of the review you and the pharmacist will make an action plan.None of your medications will be altered without the consent of you and your doctor. You will be given copy of the review and a copy will be sent to your GP. They will also keep a copy securely in the pharmacy.
They are strictly limited to a certain number of reviews they can undertake each year, So make sure you don't miss out.
If you wish to bring a friend or career to the review or if you wish to have a chaperone present, please let them know when you book the review.
Take all of your medications, including prescribed, over the counter medications, herbal medications, vitamin supplements and so on.
